Dad's Time is like Diamond!!

As a good Dad, I always try to spend as much time as possible with my kids. But then sometimes I waste my time trying to be too good an employee than a good Dad. While my kids have all the rights to call be a bad Dad at that point, my elder one ended up calling me a "diamond" Priya's perspective on family time: Appa's time is like diamond. How much ever hard she works for it, very hard to get. Amma's time is like gold. Little bit of work, she gets it. Sharanya's time is like copper. It's the penny and there's lot of it and it's easy to get. Well, although I am proud of her for saying it with so much maturity, I am not so proud of myself for making her say it. Her demand was just 30 mins a day of my time with her. I am with her for more than 5-6 hours a day but still really not with her. Either I am on phone or computer while she does home work or reading or plays with her sister. While we work so hard in office for the whole year wit...

Trouble can come in any size

Typically during long drives, either I listen to the car radio or my elder one. With former I have an "off" switch or can choose what I want to listen but with latter...  :) For a change, when we were  returning from a friend's baby shower my little one was appearing restless and wanted to join the conversation beating her big sister. After a long struggle, she started... Sharanya: How do babies get into Amma's tummy? Me: Well... you know... actually... vandhu... Amma prays to God for a baby and God puts it in the tummy. Sharanya: How does the baby come out then? Me: You know... what did you do in school today? Sharanya: How does the baby come out? Tell me.... Me: Well, the Doctor takes the baby out? Sharanya: How? Me: (Aaahh... enakku idhuvum venum innumum venum) They cut open the tummy and take it out. Sharanya: Hmmm.. that will pain a lot for Amma. If God put it there, why can't God take it out? [I had to take her down here before it got too technica...

I have always wondered why Indian politicians like to set up statues for our national leaders, is it to show respect to them or insult them? If it is really to respect them, please remove all those statues.

After I wrote my first "poetry like verse" below that I finished in a negative note, I rewrote it to bring a positive aspect to it. Here is my attempt.

Although I didn't study a lot of Tamil back in High School, I somehow developed a liking to write "small poetry like sentences" in Tamil (Safe way to steer clear from any controversy, since there are really very good poets writing real poetries and I don't want to insult them). That liking came from my best friend Joseph Anand Padmasekaran. Long live my friend. This was one of my first attempts at it.

Revival of a long lost passion

Image
I used to maintain a nice blog at http://whynotme.rediffblogs.com back in the days. With Rediff taking it down I started off this one with a promise to deliver. I couldn't believe I totally lost track of my passion for writing. I never thought I could write anything other than software. But after writing a few Random Thoughts, I thought I could do it. Anyways, after some soul searching, I have decided that I will do whatever it takes to pursue my passions. Eat well, exercise, do not over work and live happy Write about the happy life in this blog More than I do, my daughter wants to write a lot and I promised her that she could continue writing in her blog too going forward. I am already pursuing passion #1 and happy to announce the arrival of my new toy for my joy!! I am sure I will have a lot to share about my adventures with this joy. I replaced my big ride with a small ride, for my health.
